Chopwell Medical Practice

Please be aware that the practice does not accept prescription requests over the telephone as serious medication errors are more likely to be made through verbal communication and can block the telephone line.

Prescription requests must either be put into the locked box in the waiting room, the secure post box at the car park gates (currently out of use due to a bird’s nest having been found in it) or ordered online through the surgery website. Please contact the practice for more details on how to obtain your login and password for this service. Thank you.

The outside prescription box by the main car park gates is currently out of action as a bird’s nest containing eggs has recently been found in it. We are sorry for any inconvenience caused and will update the web page once the nest is no longer in use. Thank you.

The surgery will be closed on Monday the 29th of May 2017 due to the Spring Bank Holiday. We are sorry for any inconvenience caused. If you need urgent medical advice please ring 01207 561736 and you will be given the appropriate telephone numbers to call.

We know that people visit their GP with minor illnesses which their local pharmacist could help with. By visiting your local pharmacy, you could save yourself the time and with no appointment needed, you can just walk in at a time convenient to you. What’s more, many pharmacies are open in the evenings and weekends. Your local Pharmacist can see you for the following minor illnesses:

• Aches and pains
• Allergies
• Cold & Flu
• Ear care
• Eye care
• Stomach Ache
• Head Lice
• Any skin or mouth problem

If your condition is more serious they will refer you to your GP.

All pharmacies in Gateshead and Newcastle are taking part in the Think Pharmacy First Scheme.
