A public consultation period began on the 18th of June 2012 inviting patients, health professionals and the public to give their opinions on the future of both emergency and urgent care services in the Gateshead area. This consultation period was launched as part of a wider plan to improve health services across Gateshead.
Included in the package is the plan to move Gateshead walk-in service from its current location at Bensham Hospital to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Gateshead. Here it will be delivered as part of a new, purpose-built, intergrated urgent and emergency care hub, alongside the Accident and Emergency Department.
A programme of engagement has been developed and includes the following public meetings:
- 17th July 2012 from 12.30pm, Gateshead Old Town Hall, West Street, Gateshead, NE8 1HE.
- 17th August 2012 from 9.30am, Birtley Leisure Centre, Durham Road, Birtley, DH3 2TB.
- 3rd September 2012 from 4.30pm, St Chad’s Community Project, 21 Liddell Terrace, Bensham, Gateshead, NE8 1YN.
